EC&I Discipline Lead

As EC&I Discipline Lead, you will be required to manage the delivery of the EC&I design for the Project, leading and coordinating an existing team of SQEP Engineers and Designers.  You will execute the  EC&I design delivery to Cost, Schedule and Quality whilst working within the contractual obligations.  You should be experienced in the legislative requirements for EC&I designs as well as plant design and the associated standards required for compliance and to ensure the design meets the safety case requirements.
 You will provide guidance and direction to the EC&I team in design matters and be able to exhibit excellent communication and collaborative skills with the other engineering disciplines and the Client’s Intelligent Customer (IC) Responsible Engineers.
Additionally you will identify and manage any change via the Project Change Management Procedures.
The candidate shall have as a minimum:
Technical experience in a highly regulated industry.
Experience supervising engineering staff.
Chartered Engineer  (or working towards it).
Experience of leading an EC&I design team (up to 20 people) and managing interfaces with the other design disciplines, project stakeholders and supply chain.
Experience of delivering and complying with a plant Safety Case, including interaction with the safety case team.
Knowledge of relevant standards, processes and procedures.
Ensure compliance with the current legislative standards, process and procedures.
Ability to co-ordinate cost effective multi-discipline design schemes to meet customer requirements.
Experience of developing schedules and estimates.
Able to develop project delivery plans with the project team.
Demonstrable evidence in planning their discipline’s activities and their successful execution, ensuring that their checking and approval are robust and traceable.
Ability to manage and monitor engineering delivery to the project schedule and provide leadership direction to address any shortfalls.
Project progress reporting on a medium to large project (i.e. design discipline team size up to 20 people)
Commercial and contractual awareness to ensure change control procedures are undertaken and notified to the Project Management team.
Ability to identify project risks (Project and Technical) and the mitigating actions required.  Provide assessment of the risks in terms of cost and schedule impact.
Capability to undertake development of processes and procedures via work instructions to drive continuous improvement and efficiency.
Experience of carrying out SQEP assessments to support interviews, personal development and task allocation for their engineering discipline team members.

Preferred Experience
Knowledge of AVEVA Instrumentation & Electrical delivery on Projects.
Experience and / or knowledge of undertaking Line of Sight management.
Knowledge of NEC 3 contracts.

The work will involve the production of CE&I designs in line with project requirements, as well as providing close liaison and support to all other disciplines and the Safety Case team, ensuring that the project as a whole, proceeds without delays
The position will involve regular visits to the clients site in Cumbria (transport will be provided), which will include completing site and building inductions.

The Role:
Assystem is looking to fill the role of HSQE Advisor to help move forward its HSQE strategy.
The HSQE Advisor is responsible for assisting in the management of the organisations Operational HSQE requirements. To ensure the continuing safety and quality of work undertaken; maintaining, interpreting and developing the AEIL processes and documentation in order to ensure the highest levels of credibility, relevance and performance for AEIL, and to support AEIL members to perform more sustainably.

The role will assist in the operational control of the organisations HSQE systems and processes. Working with a diverse range of stakeholders, the role will also help identify areas for improvement in the way in which we operate to promote a positive safety culture across all our activities.

The ideal candidate is familiar with highly regulated industries such as; Oil & Gas, Electrical Generation and Defence, ideally with existing experience working in operational activities and projects. As a key member of the HSQE Team, the position will be working closely with the HSQE Manager and other team members, together with external experts and stakeholders, as required. As such, we are looking for candidates with strong interpersonal skills, used to dealing with individuals at different levels and from different cultures and able to use this experience to lead consultations and reach consensus. A proven ability to successfully plan and deliver work in a dynamic small team with multiple work-streams is also essential.

Your background:
You’ll need to have a NEBOSH General Certificate/NCRQ Level 6 Certificate (or equivalent) and a solid understanding of risks and hazards in a complex engineering organisation

Previous experience in/affinity for stakeholder engagement and consultation, within an engineering consultancy setting would be needed too. You’ll be sensitive to group dynamics/diverging perspectives and have the ability to manage relationships, build consensus and resolve conflict

Ideally you’ll have Lead audit qualifications (9001, 14001 & 18001/45001 and knowledge of the Nuclear sector. Any experience in carrying out gap analysis; problem solving, root cause analysis, accident investigation would be an advantage as well as experience in developing metric indicators

To develop the preliminary designs for the Double Beam Box System’s Beamline and Vacuum Management C&I Functions. The design tasks for each system will include:
