Assystem require a Senior PDMS Piping Designer to support Nuclear Decommissioning projects in Warrington. The role will be working on a Major Decommissioning project as is included in the High Level Major Developments programme. This role will be critical to the successful delivery of the project.
Responsible for the following on specific areas within the plant:
·         Design of installable-piped systems / plant layouts that can be safely operated and maintained.
·         Design of pipe support
·         Ensuring all relevant standards, instructions and specifications are applied.
·         Interfacing with other disciplines to ensure optimised design
·         Production of various deliverables e.g. Isometrics, general arrangements, support details.
·         Checking of other designers’ deliverables.
Essential Experience Required
·         The candidate must be an experienced PDMS user, particularly in piping and the production of automated isometric drawings from the 3D model.
·         Detailed experience of piping design working within a highly regulated industry, 3 of which must have been gained within the nuclear industry.
·         To be fully conversant with UK Statutory Regulations and industry guides and standards relating to this discipline.
·         Design Tools /Software: PDMS, Navisworks Freedom Viewer, Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word etc.).

NDT Engineer – Level 3

NDT Engineer

The purpose of this position is to enact the role of a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Engineer within the Manufacturing, Installation and Testing (MIT) Function. The role holder will be required to discharge the associated ‘Intelligent Customer’ responsibilities to support to the project on behalf of the Licensee organisation. The role is specifically targeted at the NDT aspects of the new nuclear plant design, manufacturing and construction phase. It will require an understanding of the manufacturing NDT process requirements for components which are important to ensure the adequate level of quality is achieved, and to ensure these are not compromised during any phase of the plant’s lifecycle.

You will be expected to with a wide range of stakeholders within the project (Design Authority, Quality, Programme) and more widely with the Responsible Designer (Direction Industrielle), Contractors, Manufacturers and the Regulator. Additionally, you will be required to be able to influence the stakeholders to ensure the right technical and commercial decisions are made for the project. This role holder will have a significant level of autonomy and will report to the MIT Engineering Manager. The NDT Engineer will principally be required to work in Bristol, but some international travel may be required on an ad hoc basis.

Principal Accountabilities
• Review and accept NDT procedures
• Provide technical advice and support on a range of NDT issues.
• Perform surveillance on NDT vendors and inspection reports.
• Act as technical expert on topics related NDT techniques for the review of Non-Conformance Reports.
• Work effectively with minimal supervision to ensure internal customer’s needs are met.
• Maintain a strong relationship with the Design Authority, Programmes, Responsible Designer (in France) and UK regulatory bodies.
Skills & Knowledge Required

• Detailed working knowledge of NDT codes and standards
• Decision making capability for resolution of NDT technical issues
• Understanding of Quality Assurance in a highly regulated environment
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external customers and supplier’s Excellent organisational skills
• Understanding of the role of Intelligent Customer Ability to lead by example in safety culture Understanding of manufacturing processes

Qualifications & Experience

• PCN or equivalent ISO 9712/ASME Level 3 in volumetric and surface inspection techniques (current preferred but lapsed qualifications may be considered). Level 2 with sufficient experience may be considered.
• Degree in Engineering/Materials Science/Metallurgy
• Experience working on large projects
• Experience in highly regulated environment e.g. nuclear, aerospace, petrochemical etc.

• Chartered engineer status
• Experience working in an Intelligent Customer role
• Experience of Nuclear Power Plant inspection campaigns
• Experience in liaising with external regulators including ONR
• Use of RSE-M and ASME code for in-service inspection

• Beta Gamma Remote Handling experience
• Experience of design delivery in a highly regulated industry with mechanical handling experience.
• Experience of design delivery
• Working knowledge of BS 8888
• Familiarity with Cimage, registration of drawings
• Design fundamentals PUWER, CDM, IRR, LOLER
• Classified/monitored worker (preferable)

Job Description / Role

Reporting to a Senior Mechanical Engineer, the Senior Designer is required to produce the manufacturing deliverables, primarily GA and Detail drawings etc. Using Inventor 3D drawing package of plant items including; Vessels, Tanks & Columns c/w internals.

You will need to be familiar with Producing design drawings to a manufacturing level from PV Elite Mechanical Design calculations (PD 5500) output files including 3D model and be able to converse with Lead Design Engineer and translate requirements into the 2D / 3D Design drawings and including any relevant technical specifications. Read and transfer information from existing manual drawings of vessel internals to Inventor 2D/3D formats
Essential Experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience of working within a highly regulated industry, preferably within the nuclear industry.
• Suitably qualified and experienced to produce and check deliverables
• Experienced in the production of manufacturing detailed drawings and specifications.
• Familiar with the relevant standards and codes.
• It is essential the candidate can manage their own workload and check that of others and drive completion of the work scope independently against a demanding schedule.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
