Location – ideally Derby with the possibility of working out of Assystems other offices
Duration – 6 months
To develop the preliminary designs for the Double Beam Box System’s Beamline and Vacuum Management C&I Functions. The design tasks for each system will include:
• Definition of the Scope and Boundaries
• Development of the Concept of Operations
• Definition of the functional decomposition and logical architecture
• Development of a design definition document suitable for submission to a Preliminary Design Review
• Development of an outline physical design concept
• Working one day a week at the client’s site during the design stage (Oxford)
An awareness of how the EC&I aspects fit within a complex project environment, combined with a depth of knowledge within particular areas.
A demonstrable track record of creating preliminary designs and experience of the tasks described in the roles and responsibilities section above.
The capability to deliver design solutions to the required standards, in the required timescales, supported by appropriate documentation.
Experience of working under a project life cycle management, through all its phases.
A commercial awareness of project management to support technical knowledge.
Experience of Neutral Beam Injectors, Vacuum Vessels including Vacuum Management Systems
Experience of control and monitoring systems such as isolation valves, gas input systems, calorimeters, Positive Ion Neutral Injector (PINI) bend magnets, Residual Ion Dumps and cooling water systems
Highly Desirable Skills
In order to fulfil this role a combination of a number of the following skills are highly desirable:
Knowledge and understanding of implication of design choices on practical implementation and safety.
Process and systems specifications including the appropriate legislation, standards and directives.
Knowledge of electrical systems and control design.
Experience of software/hardware/embedded programming for machinery control
Knowledge of instrumentation techniques, including signal processing and conversions, and calibrations techniques.
Experience of electromechanical, electro-optical systems such as – Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Transducers, RFID, Fibre optics, laser, robotics
Demonstrable and sound technical knowledge of theoretical and practical design aspects of control system designs
Nuclear experience ideally with exposure to blue chip company processes and procedures.
Experienced in the use of AMTECH ProDesign.
An awareness of Safety Instrumented System design and Substantiation.
An appreciation of mechanical systems.
Qualifications and Affiliations:
Minimum qualification for this role is a degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Process engineering or equivalent qualification
